Did you download the package from this website? Head to www.phpbbstyles.com/xs.php and download your copy again.

Upload template.php again overwriting the current one on yor FTP. If the problem still persists, you are probably uploading a corrupt file. Make sure you upload file using ASCII mode. (there is option on your FTP client for this).

I've been trying to install the XS mod for about an hour and can't get it to work. Whenever I try to open the Config, Management, and Styles Menu, it gives me an error of:
Code: Select all
Template->make_filename(): Error - template file not found: ../../xs_mod/tpl/frameset.tpl

I've tried looking through the pages of this forum, but nothing is helping yet. I've taken every step exactly as written. I copied each page from the .zip file to it's respective folder, I deleted the includes/template.php file before I replaced it with the new one, and I changed the permissions on the cache folder to 777, but nothing is working. And this is about the 3rd time I've tried it, each time getting the same results. Can somebody please help me?

Godcoffee - viewtopic.php?t=8578
Saymaad - Your most likely forgot to upload the new template.php overwriting the default one with phpBB.

Greetings,

A simple way to determine if the 'includes/template.php' file is the XS Mod one is to look at the size of the file via your FTP Client.

- XS Mod 'template.php' will be over 60k
- standard phpBB 'template.php' will be less than 20k

Greetings,

Make sure you have;

Code: Select all
include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/template.'.$phpEx);

in 'common.php'.

And the reason for checking to see if the file size is what it should be is that some FTP Clients don't update the file or overwrite it. You therefore have to force an overwrite in some cases.

hello. im new.

so, i dont find the "install.txt" file particularly clear. it seems as if you are supposed to put the directory "xs_mod" in the "forum" or "phpBB" directory on the server. example:

"copy root/xs_mod/tpl/cache.tpl to xs_mod/tpl/cache.tpl"

^ doesnt this mean there should be a dir named xs_mod inside the forum/ dir?

this doesnt work, i got a sever error when i tried to load the control panel.

but then a couple of posts later in the thread it says you should put the .tpl files from the "xs_mod" directory in the "templates/subSilver/admin/" directory. but what about the other files in "xs_mod", such as "formIE.css" and "style.css"? where do the images go? why are there images included in the mod package if the eXtreme Styles mod isnt supposed to change the look of the board?

Greetings,

All you do to install this mod is;

1. download the zip file
2. unzip the zip file
3. upload the contents of the 'root' dir, which is in the archive, to the root of your forum.

When the mod is installed you will have 1 extra dir in the root of it, this dir will be 'xs_mod', as the other dirs in the archive already exist so you will just be uploading their contents.

Nothing should be added/uploaded to any style dir.
