It's actually the includes\smtp.php which has the error. Well can you tell me how exactly you make yours work. What are the correct settings in the php.ini, and again in the APC config SMTP settings?

I've installed an SMTP server. Now since my site is on my server, do I put localhost in the php.ini, on port 25? And same in the APC config? That's what I've done but now it loads Outlook Express when I click to e-mail somebody??

Hmmm, I'm getting somewhere now. The SMTP server is counting the messages sent (or attempted) by the forum so it's trying. I get the following message after posting a PM.

Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 550 Invalid recipient: machine2005@msn.com

I thought this might be due to Norton checking outgoing e-mail, or maybe spam protection, so I disabled it but I still get the error. Any suggestions?

Probably your smtp server doesn't allow to relay. You should enable relay from localhost (but make sure its only from localhost or otherwise your computer will quickly become another open spam proxy).
Do NOT pm me, I don't visit this forum anymore, don't own it, don't provide any support and don't moderate.

Yesterday I had a look at some FTP information for setting up an FTP server on my machine. Got everything up and running pretty quickly and didn't have to make any major changes to my server machine config. When i restarted my server machine, for some reason it won't let me start the Uniserver. I've tried a few things but it just won't start. I tried a new installation of uniserver, leaving the old one in tact, and everything runs fine from the new one! I've unistalled the FTP server and tried the old Uniserver again but still no joy, it just won't start.
I copied all the forums from the old WWW directory into the new one, however the phpMyAdmin is empty and so the forums cannot connect the database.
Where would I find the old databases to transfer them to the new installation? At present non of the forums I host are active and obviously its vital I get them up and running this morning ASAP.

Thanks guys

Hyperlink tags in PHP should be almost the same as in HTML.

Confused me there, you're answering the previous message. Any ideas about the last question mate?

No sorry. I take it you're not sure of the location of the database? You could try looking in your old config.php file for clues...

Yes, the uniserver directory stores all the forum info. When I start the server it copies the directories to the new (W) drive. With the server now starting from a fresh installation I've had to copy all the folders from the old server directory into the new one, however the phpMyAdmin is still blank. I just need to know where the databases are stored locally so I can transfer them to the new directory

Are you using a Windows server or another type?

It's okay chaps I found them. For future reference, they are stored in the following directory

C:\UniServer3_2\diskw\usr\local\mysql\data\

Had a few serious problems with the machine I've been using as the server so I installed the server software to my internet machine whilst the other was being repaired and upgraded. One thing I've noticed is that every now and then when browsing whilst running the server, the machine takes on a mind of its own. The mouse begins to jump around the screen opening and closing files. Have to leave it alone for a few minutes then return.
Does anybody know why it does that?
