I apologize, for I know this was asked before, but the previous guy seemed to have gotten it working, and I sitll can not. What have I done wrong?

The error I see:

Template->make_filename(): Error - template file not found: ../../xs_mod/tpl/frameset.tpl

I installed everything from root into my phpBB root directory.

The previous resolution was "you did not overwrite the templates.php file" Which I did, I know, I did it twice to be sure.
The only thing I can think of, based on a previous post is the xs_mod directory I put this under root as well as this is how it was structured was this supposed to go in the styles themselves? A previous post says tpl's go in subSilver, and that the only place you need this. Can someone see what I am doing wrong?? Should I move what is in xs_mod to inside a specific template?? perhaps all of them, something tells me that all of them is not right. Please help. Thanks in advance.

No need to answer. I had the directory structure right.
***VERY IMPORTANT*** anyone who followed directions like I did, and did this correctly, and still see this error.
delete your template.php file, and your xs_mod directory, and re-upload the 4 directories, NOT FROM THE ROOT LEVEL LOCALLY< BUT INSIDE. For some reason this made the difference. I searched through this entire forum and that was only stated once, it should be stated in the install.txt. And no I did not have phpBB/root/and then all the directories :)
but for some reason it worked, so just delete and try again, log out and log back in.

you probably forgot to upload template.php overwriting the existing one.

A bit of pre-installation info please.
I am using 2.0.19 and have some Mods installed already (Image Upload, Quick Reply, eZportal, Appalacia skin)
Is it OK to install eXtreme Styles, or is it to late now. Does ES need a vanilla phpbb to work properly?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

Make sure all the files for the 2.3.1 version overwrote the currently installed version. You may have to force an update depending on the FTP Client your using.

with all the installation issues on this thread, perhaps the installation instructions should be clearer.

i just attempted to install it and got an error. fortunately i was able to get my board going again (w/o this mod!)
