Whatever you have modified - it causes that problem. I don't think it is mods - probably your own code.

I don't find the installation instructions clear at all.

Postby NiteCloak on Thu Mar 11, 2004 3:40 pm

Sorry CyberAlien, but after reading all these posts I am still none the wiser about the correct locations to upload these files/folders in the XS distribution.

Once the zip file is extracted to my hard drive there is the following folder hierarchy:

my hard drive\xs_mod\contrib
.. \root\admin
.. \cache
.. \includes
.. \language
.. \templates\subsilver\admin

The only place I can find templates\subsilver\admin is in this folder

phpnuke root\modules\Forums\templates\subsilver\admin

Assuming that is where you intend those files in .. xs_mod\root\templates\subsilver\admin to go, if I am to use your folder hierarchy as my upload example, I would have to assume that your definition of "root" is not my phpnuke root but phpnuke root\modules\Forums\

This would then mean I would need to create all the above folders in phpnuke root\modules\Forums\

I want to be 100% sure this is what you mean in your installation instructions because my phpnuke root\modules\Forums\ folder already contains \admin, \images, \language, and \templates and if I am correct then you are advising that I also need to create phpnuke root\modules\Forums\includes\ and phpnuke root\modules\Forums\cache\

However, if you meant for the \admin, \cache, \includes and \language to be installed actually off of my phpnuke root, then this is not clear.

Please advise!

This mod is for phpBB. You can't use it with PHPNuke.

No. My phpNuke came with phpbb. Its the forums I am talking about.

My confusion arises in how my web host root directory looks compared to the uploads directories (folders) you mention in your installation text.

When I ftp into my website, my root is naturally my website root, i.e. phpnuke. What I am trying to ascertain is precisely where you want these files placing to make the xs mod work?

See my path examples above?

Check out my site if you need to. http://vitalgamer.com. You'll see I am running the Eos theme on the website (phpnuke) and subsilver on the phpbb forums.

phpBB in phpNuke is not phpBB. It is heavily modified version. And mod doesn't work with it.

eXtreme Mod basic Q

Postby bearqst on Thu Mar 11, 2004 7:34 pm

I haven't used the Extreme mod and was just considering installing it. I'm moving a test site to a permanent location and use Smartor's Portal as part of the basic foundation.

My question is this, should I install Extreme Mod first, right after the inital install of PHPBB2, or does it matter.

Also, what limitations does extreme mod have in relationship to different styles and other mods. I thought I had seen a reference once at phpbb that there are some mods / hacks that won't work correctly (without a little tweaking) at install.

Just trying to prepare my state of mind for the pit falls that might occure :)

Doesn't matter if you install it before or after installing phpBB. Just make sure you overwite file template.php

It has conflicts with several mods that modify template system. I don't remember exactly names of those mods, but you can browse mod release thread on phpbb.com to check it.

Has anyone that you're aware of tried to get your XS mod to work with phpnuke phpbb?

CyberAlien

I'm doing a fresh install of PHPBB2 and have so far only added:

PHPBB 2.0.6
Hestia Theme
Extreme Mod

I am currently trying to install Smartor's Portal Mod. I have run into an issue I haven't seen before. I believe it is Extreme Mod related ?

The board is up and everythings fine, but while trying to install the portal and looking at the mods that need to be made I have found something I'm not sure about:

I need to mod

$url = ( !empty($HTTP_POST_VARS['redirect']) ) ? $HTTP_POST_VARS['redirect'] : "index.$phpEx";

and change this to include "portal.$phpEx"; at the end. However, what I now see on the line this is suppose to be done on is:

$url = ( !empty($HTTP_POST_VARS['redirect']) ) ? htmlspecialchars($HTTP_POST_VARS['redirect']) : "index.$phpEx";

Am I right in thinking the "htmlspecialchars" is added by Extreme Mod to do its "update" checks ??

TIA

That line isn't in eXtreme Styles mod - it is in default phpBB. Ether your forum or mod is outdated, probably mod. That htmlspecialchars is added for security reasons, so when you change that line make sure modified line will contain htmlspecialchars if possible.

Ah Ha, ok, thanks,

It must be Smartors Portal.php is outdated. I forgot about the code add-on for security...

Thanks for your insight and help :D
