Does this mean we can start using it on live environments now? Even if we have to update every 2 days, can we use it on a live forum?

It is beta, not RC. This means there will still probably be issues, but it is stabled enough to test out.

Reiji: Read the official announcement at phpBB.com; it is highly not recommended to use the BETA in a live environment, as security issues may take some time to be fixed (appearing in the next BETA, whenever it is), bugs may require the dumping and re-creation of database tables (i.e., the loss of board data), and more.

I plan on looking over the templating system in depth later today now that "everything" is working. Once I have that nailed down, I'll start getting a feel for the changes in the forums themselves and look to port MODs. I'll be using this beta period to try and get a head start, so that hopefully I can get a fully-modded board up soon after RC.

Being able to download it would be nice as every mirror I tried (and I tried them all) has problems.

Thanks for that, however, the initial report when downloading the file was 1.2Mb and all I got was 123 Kb ...
but after a few download attempts final got it all...

Yeah, it's a problem with the server (possibly). Either way, it's a known issue.
